During the first two weeks of December, 1914 the 2nd Bedfordshire battalion of 21 Brigade, 7th Division were either in the front line at Fleurbaix a few miles to the south of Armentières or in billets close by. The battalion diary does not provide much information about this period so the circumstances behind the death of William Hyam, who died from wounds on 14th December, after having been sent to a base hospital on the coast are not known. |
